[Question] Difference between INNER JOIN and OUTER JOIN in SQL Server  

I am not sure what the difference is between INNER JOIN and OUTER JOIN. Can someone perhaps give an example with a simple query? BTW: I am using SQL Server, but ORACLE is fine too.
